Pershing GTX70

New Pershing GTX70

The first hull was delivered on March 19, 2025. This is the 3rd model in the new GTX division of the famous Italian manufacturer PERSHING.  This is the smallest model in the new GT series.

These are said to be sporty yachts but offering much more significant interior and exterior volume than the X range, with a rather unique exterior look. The emphasis is on the quality of life on board, with easier access to the water and, above all, closer contact with yachtsmen. Pershing’s GRAN TURISMO concept refers to a much more significant interior and exterior volume for each yacht size in the GT range.

I’m also thinking of AZIMUT’s new SEADECK range. I’m thinking of particular of the AZIMUT SEADECK 7 in comparison with the GTX70. Let’s bet that other manufacturers will follow this concept very soon.

At AZIMUT YACHTS:

– New Seadeck 6 ($3.5 million USD)

– New Seadeck 7 (5 million USD)

– New Seadeck 9 (project)

These three new SEADECK models are all powered by Volvo IPS.

This new Pershing GTX70 has 3 bedrooms with three en-suite bathrooms and even a small laundry room. There’s also a flybridge with an electrically retractable roof. There’s also a real lounge at the front of the yacht. Note that there are no chandeliers when yachtsmen are on the side deck.

The result is very successful, particularly in the cockpit area. Side balconies are becoming a major trend among manufacturers, probably in response to great demand from yachtsmen.  They allow you to live closer to the water. We’re talking about the terrace concept here.

The aft cockpit offers a dinette area that is almost directly connected to the galley, which can become a bar, providing an easy link to the interior saloon.

The PERSHING brand gives the boat a unique signature. The design is neat and well thought-out.

My surprise came from the propulsion system with its three Volvo IPS engines. This is a different approach to the high performance of the X range, with its surface propeller propulsion resulting in speeds unheard of in the pleasure boating industry.

I’d have thought more of the RIVA range for yachts with PODS Volvo IPS propulsion in this case, plus three engines. But that’s my very personal opinion.

Luxury yacht manufacturers are increasingly opting for IPS propulsion, as VOLVO is working intensively on AUTO-DOCKING. Volvo also promises to make the new system compatible with any installations made with IPS PODS in previous years. Once operational, this will undoubtedly be a definite advantage over yachts with thrusters.

It’s also worth noting that the use of IPS PODS means smaller engine chambers than with direct-drive shafts. This PODS propulsion method also has the advantage of reducing fuel consumption and diesel emissions (odors).

Riva’s new 82 DIVA, another member of the FERRETTIGROUP family, takes a similar approach with two side balconies. At this point, however, you’ll have to refer to the GTX80 for a comparison.  But we’re dealing here with two completely different concepts. Click here to see this yacht (Riva 82 Diva).

Initial data do not mention the GTX70’s empty weight, but more detailed information is sure to come soon.

The sales price is also rather mysterious at the moment, but let’s bet on an approximate price of over 6 million USD.

The range:

Pershing GTX116: 16 million USD (approx.)

Pershing GTX80: 9 million USD (approx.)

Pershing GTX70: 6 million USD (approx. projections)

Hopefully, a unit will be on display at the next Boat Show in Cannes this autumn. This new model marks the start of PERSHING’s 40th anniversary.

But we must give credit where credit is due. It was the Polish brand Galeon that introduced retractable balconies to the market many years ago, over 12 years ago with its 50 ft flybridge.

Today, many manufacturers are doing the same. This manufacturer’s most significant model with balconies is the Galeon 640.

But that’s the only comparison at this stage. A Galeon 640 is a class B yacht worth around $3.5 million USD, while the GTX70 is a class A yacht at almost twice the price.

Construction quality is very different, as is resale value.

In the meantime, here’s the manufacturer’s description for the GTX70 with photos and the few technical data available at the time of writing.

Manufacturer’s description:

The Pershing GTX70, 21.88 meters long and 5.42 meters wide, is the result of collaboration between the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee, headed by Piero Ferrari, Vallicelli Design, and the Group’s Engineering Department. The new hull was produced at Ferretti Group’s Plug and Mould plant, which combines the brand’s cutting-edge technology with artisanal know-how, and the boat’s construction was completed in the new Mondolfo production area, where the GTX range is built.

The interior and exterior spaces are larger than on other models of similar length, guaranteeing an extraordinarily comfortable experience by increasing on-board habitability and offering direct contact with the water.

The Pershing GTX70 spans two decks and a sports deck and can accommodate up to six people in three cabins.

The exterior design, in classic Pershing gray, incorporates some of the distinctive styling features of all GTX models. The slightly convex, stanchionless waterline runs from bow to stern, joining the waterline at the stern.

The slightly convex, stanchionless hull line runs from bow to stern, joining the bulwarks on either side of the cockpit, which open to form two terraces that greatly increase living space in the beach area. The slender lines, combined with the almost vertical bow, give this model unrivalled elegance.

The importance of the space concept is evident on the main deck, which features an open, seamless design. The cockpit, which is fully shaded by the sportfly, contains a generous C-shaped sofa and table. As on the Pershing GTX80, the outside saloon and inside saloon are linked by the galley, thanks in particular to a pocket-up-down glass panel incorporated into the galley unit.

The importance of the bulkhead structure is evident in the layout of the living area, which contains two L-shaped sofas facing each other, giving the space an even more harmonious feel.

The colors used for the interiors of this first unit were chosen to highlight the contrasts between the various elements, such as the dark nubuck leather upholstery of the sofas combined with the muted tones of the adjacent stairwell.

The ceiling is decorated with LED light strips that diffuse light across the entire deck space – a feature also found on the lower deck.

The lower deck contains three cabins and three en-suite bathrooms, in a layout that optimizes space so that guests can enjoy maximum comfort in the sleeping area too.

The Pershing GTX70’s 16-square-meter sport deck is divided into three spacious areas for sunbathing, dining and the helm station. This model is also equipped with an innovative electric bimini with pre-preg carbon poles, available as an option, which can be used to shade the dining area and cockpit.

Equipped with three 900 hp VOLVO PENTA D13 IPS1200 units, the Pershing GTX70 reaches a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots (preliminary data). The yacht is CE Class A certified, the safest class for boats under 24 m.
