New US tariffs effective spetembre 15 on Canadian-made boats.

Tariff war between Canada and the United States now applicable to Canadian-made boats.

New 50% tariffs imposed by the United States on boats built in Canada up to 24 metres.
So this particularly affects boat and pontoon manufacturers established in Canada.
But if, for example, we sell a boat and/or pontoon that was originally manufactured in the United States, this tariff does not apply.

Used boats from well-known American brands can continue to be sold in the United States without any problem (without tariffs), for example:

– Cruisers Yachts
– Sea Ray
– Regal
– Chaparral
– Monterey
– Tiara
– Boston Whaler
– Grady-White
– Intrepid
– Carver
– Sabre
– Marquis
– Meridian
– Chris-Craft
– Formula
– Ranger Tugs
– Four Winns
– Cobalt
– Manitou
– Bennington
– Barletta
– South Bay
– Harris
– Premier
– Avalon
– Etc…

In short, all brands manufactured in the United States.

Here are now a few Canadian boat manufacturers that are subject to this new tariff:

– Princecraft
– Neptunus
– Legend (some of the boats are designed in the USA)
– Pelican
– Armada
– Vision Marine
– Campion Marine
– Polaris
– Kingfisher

This list is not exhaustive.

N.B. BRP does not manufacture its personal watercraft and pontoons in Canada

Normally, these boats were protected by the CUSMA agreement, but the Trump administration decided to exclude them from the agreement.
These will be difficult times for these manufacturers as long as this special 50% tariff remains in effect for exports to the United States.
