Manufacturer ranking (Global order book 2021)

The publication BOAT INTERNATIONAL has just released statistics on the production of yachts over 24 meters. The table of manufacturers for the year 2021 is now known. Unsurprisingly, Italy dominates the standings thanks to the AZIMUT-BENETTI and SANLORENZO group.

But it should be mentioned that one important Italian manufacturer is missing from the statistics, namely the Ferretti Group (including Pershing, Riva, Custom Line and CRN) as well as the two English manufacturers (UK), Princess and Sunseeker. Indeed these three very important players in the industry did not agree to submit to an audit according to information given to Boat International hence their lack of statistics. But these manufacturers are doing very well according to informed sources. Their strategies not to reveal their production volumes must be part of an overall marketing plan.

 

But here is the table: It should be noted that the Azimut-Benetti Group has been number 1 in the world for more than 21 consecutive years. The Ocean Alexander group and Horizon are growing. In order to understand which are the countries which dominate the industry here is another graph which shows the ranking of countries by production volume still for the category of more than 25 meters.

So the first 6 (for 25 meters and more):

1-Italy

2-The Netherlands

3-Turkey

4-Taiwan (including Horizon and Ocean Alexander boat builder)

5-Germany

6-Great Britain (UK)

 

Of course, world production is dominated by motor yachts (turquoise space in the next graph) and has been for several years:

 

Another interesting statistic is the one that shows us the production volume of the last 14 years by length.

 

The years 2008, 2009 and 2019 seem to have been the best years. The year 2021 is also shaping up to be a very good year.

About this data, we must conclude that manufacturers who produce yachts from 24 to 50 meters have very positive prospects for the coming years. So, if you are looking for a 13 to 23 meter yacht produced by a manufacturer on this list, there is a good chance that it has standards and production quality that meet your expectations.
