Global Order Book 2024, top 19 shipyards in the world

The ranking of yacht manufacturers for 2024 is now available. This ranking is for yachts of 78 ft and over, based on the cumulative length of hulls produced.

I would have thought that this year the Ferretti Group would be back on the list, but they refused to participate, revealing the orders (finally opening their books) received to date.

Unsurprisingly, Italian manufacturer AZIMUT-BENETTI is No. 1 for the 24th year running, followed by another Italian manufacturer, SANLORENZO.

The next largest groups are Feadship (Netherlands) and LURSSEN (Germany), which focus on megayachts and superyachts, and another Italian group, THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP, which groups together several manufacturers. Damen is also based in the Netherlands.

The two British groups, Princess (position 7) and Sunseeker (position 9), are of course in this ranking.

Italian manufacturer Overmarine (Mangusta) remains relatively stable, but still shows an increase of 2 positions.

Luxury catamaran manufacturer SUNREEF makes a good leap from position 16 last year to position 11 this year.

Taiwan’s Ocean Alexander moves up from position 3 (last year) to position 10. Competition is strong in this category, with Horizon and Numarine also asserting their presence.

Based on the evolution of positions, we can conclude that manufacturers producing yachts over 100 ft (up to 500 ft) are of course favored, but it has to be said that they produce fewer of them.

The Azimut-Benetti Group is favored because of its large production capacity and, by the same token, its speed of production.

It has to be said that in our world, there is a rather exceptional growth in the number of multi-millionaires and billionaires. This partly explains the ranking and popularity of the Monaco Yacht Show, which on average features yachts worth 60 million euros or more.

In short, this ranking is for information purposes only, as the positioning above all demonstrates to me that the manufacturer knows how to innovate to appeal to yachtsmen. Yacht quality should be the subject of a separate ranking based on questionnaires sent to captains and owners, but you guessed it, nobody in the industry wants to see that kind of information.
