The new Cruisers Yachts 55 or 57 Flybridge.

The new Cruisers Yachts 55 or 57  Flybridge.

This is the new CRUISERS YACHTS flybridge from MarineMax, who recently purchased the brand. I think we’re just at the beginning of a new series of flybridges “made in USA” by Cruisers Yachts. It has to be said that the Sea Ray brand left this field of yachts over 50 feet due to a lack of sales volume sufficient to ensure the profitability of the division that produced the “L” for Luxury, we’re talking about the old L650, L590, L550.

With MarineMax’s unrivalled visibility in the American market, they surely have a game plan for this new option. The list of flybridge builders in the U.S. is very short for 50-footers and over. There was Tiara in years gone by, but it no longer offers a flybridge. Carver and Marquis have not been in business for several years.

At present, European manufacturers dominate this market. We’re talking here about the following manufacturers:

Azimut Yachts
Ferretti Yachts
Sunseeker Yachts
Princess Yachts
Prestige Yachts
Galeon Yachts
Absolute Yachts

These yachts are all subject to 1.5% customs duty when sold in the USA, but this is always included in the price quoted to the customer. In addition, transportation from Europe to North America must be added to this price. So a European yacht already has a surplus of nearly $100,000 USD at cost for a 55- to 60-foot yacht.

In recent years, configurations have become increasingly similar, with few differences between manufacturers, at least in terms of cockpit area, flybridge, aft galley on the main deck as you enter the boat, saloon without dinette and three bedrooms on the lower deck. What’s more, the vast majority offer Volvo’s IPS propulsion.

Cruisers Yachts 55 Fly is similar but with the addition of a balcony that lowers to enlarge the cockpit area laterally (port side). The hydraulic platform also seems bolder on this new model.

In short, it will probably be offered at a very competitive price, and of course, as owner of the brand, MarineMax will be able to entice boaters with promotions that could look like either extended warranties or substantial discounts.

They are already the exclusive dealers of AZIMUT and GALEON in the USA, so customers are already coming to them to see the models, so why not offer this same clientele a competitive product that can put more money in their coffers.

I’m sure we’ll see other new models appear over the coming months, especially in the 50 to 70 foot range. But to ensure the success of these new models, they must be marketed worldwide to ensure a good production volume. He doesn’t want to repeat the mistake made by Sea Ray.

MarineMax has diversified considerably over the last few months, and now has a global structure in a number of different areas. All that remains is to adapt it to this new business plan.

Here’s a brief description of the new 55 Flybridge Cruisers yachts and some photos that the manufacturer has made available:

It remains to be seen whether there will be a crew cabin (mandatory for sales in Europe), but according to the sketches, there appears to be an access door to the crew cabin on the transom.

There’s a sofa-like seat that lowers just in front of the bathing platform. This is a surprising concept, given that all Europeans tend to eliminate the transom as much as possible to create total visibility on the water. There’s also the lounge area at the front of the yacht, which is now the industry standard.
