Walk-Through Details

Boarding Morning Dew can be done from the extended swim platform through a starboard side transom door leading into the cockpit; one can also board from the starboard side gate and either walk aft to the cockpit or utilize the starboard “walk-around” and proceed forward to the bow.  In the cockpit a curved stairway to port leads to the upper boat deck, which can be closed off with an FRP hatch to keep the cockpit dry during inclement weather.  A large hatch in the cockpit sole opens to the huge lazarette.  An aft control station, shore power connections, storage compartments, a hot and cold fresh water shower are all located within the cockpit/swim platform areas.

Enter the salon from the Dutch door leading forward from the cockpit.  The salon is spacious, well-appointed, and light.  The beautiful light and clear teak joinery of the cabinetry throughout the yacht is a trademark of PAE as are the teak and spruce soles.  An L-shaped dining area is to port with a large teak table with inlayed starburst pattern, and built-in seating with abundant storage under sit against the aft and port bulkheads. The dining table is on an electric lift which allows the table to be lowered into a custom queen size bed to act as a comfortable area to sleep during extended cruises. Across and to starboard of the dining area is a large teak storage cabinet.  On either side of the cabinet sit two Ekornes Stressless reclining seats along with ottomans wrapped in “Steel Gray” ultra-leather. Cabinets and under-seat storage are plentiful.  A custom shoe cabinet is built-in to the starboard cabinet as you enter the salon. Edge-bound high-quality wool carpet protects the sole, and blinds provide shade and privacy when required.

The galley is located forward of the main salon on the port side.  Two steps down from the salon elevation, the galley is a combination of simple elegance and practicality. Caesarstone counter tops compliment the galley appliances and encompass a large stainless-steel sink. There is an additional water filtration system at the sink in addition to the house water filtration and purification system located in the forward machinery space. Ventilation is excellent with an upgraded large opening port light.  There are overhead and under counter lockers, cupboards and drawers essential for outfitting a seagoing galley.  A lovely teak and spruce sole completes the space.

At the forward end of the salon to starboard you ascend a flight of stairs to arrive in the wheelhouse. Forward and starboard of the galley is a spiral staircase down to the Utility and Engine Rooms.

One enters the Master stateroom by continuing forward from the galley through a direct access door on the port side of this “hallway” layout; this makes for a single–level layout that is one of the many great features of Morning Dew.

The large queen island berth in the Master lays fore & aft and features attractive reading lights on either side. There are also night stands on either side of the bed.  There is a Maretron display screen which allows monitoring of various ship systems.  Outboard, to port are two extra large opening port lights. An overhead hatch opens to the Portuguese bridge walkway providing natural light and a protected air flow which can be a huge plus at anchor. This hatch has a built in “OceanAire” screen system which provides both blackout & mesh screens. Closets, drawers, cabinets and lockers abound.  Teak and spruce make up the sole.

The Master connects forward through a pocket door to a large Head which includes an upgraded shower option, a Tecma head with proper sink and a Caesarstone “Linen” counter top.  There are ample drawers and cabinets and more than enough room for his and hers toiletries. Teak and spruce again make up the sole.

Starboard of the Master Stateroom, across the hallway, is a cleverly designed bunk room with multiple drawers and three large lockers. There are two opening port lights, two reading lights, and a fan.

The forward stateroom has a queen size island berth, three overhead hatches (all with OceanAire dual bug/blackout screens), and four opening port lights. In addition to multiple drawers and two large lockers, there are reading lamps and a fan. There is an enormous storage area beneath the queen size bed.

The guest head has a Caesarstone “Linen” counter top with a large white ceramic sink and an ample medicine cabinet.  A large shower and a Tecma toilet are included. There are two opening port lights providing great ventilation.

Beneath the Forward Guest stateroom is a huge equipment and storage basement. This area is accessed through a large hatch in the stateroom sole.  Descending by ladder to the central area, you find the basement defined by three separate sections.  All the way forward is access to the bow thruster and anchor wash system.  The central section immediately aft contains deep storage shelves. The aft most section contains the watermaker, house water filtration with a Mighty Pure ultraviolet water purifier, plumbing manifolds, the AC freshwater pump and the backup DC freshwater pump. It is an amazingly large area that houses extra supplies and provisions which highly compliment the overall capability of this expedition cruising yacht.

The Pilothouse aboard Morning Dew appears large compared with most yachts in the 60 foot range.  There is an expansive navigation console with four large flat touch screen monitors, overhead panels, along with under window dash panels logically outfitted with the necessary controls needed to operate the vessel. The Pilothouse windows and outboard Dutch doors are all made by Diamond/Sea Glaze, fabricated to commercial specification.  There is a large straight bench seat fronted by a beautiful teak table that is the perfect place for scenic viewing and keeping the watch keeper company.  Beneath this seating area is a very large pull-out chart drawer.

Aft of the seating area is a large (king) bunk which sits athwart-ships. This turns the aft section of the pilothouse into a very large, friendly area to read or sleep while underway, yet still allows crew to be readily involved in cruising and navigating operations. This setup allows for a very large storage area under the bed and also provides almost 360-degree visibility out of the Pilothouse windows from the twin Stidd helm chairs.

The helm dash features a large teak and stainless steel destroyer steering wheel.  The John Deere main & wing engines, and both Northern Lights generator control panels are positioned overhead for straight forward monitoring as are all of the other key systems display monitors around the helm.  There is a practical electrical panel that is at an angle on the starboard side of the dash area and houses all of the DC and AC breakers plus the air conditioning select breakers and in general all of the power management controls necessary for the vessel.  All of the ship’s electrical distribution panels are hinged for access for servicing.

Morning Dew was commissioned with an upgraded hydraulics package which is powered by the John Deere wing engine, the Northern Lights 20Kw generator, and the main engine through an ABT PTO system.  This system powers the ABT 25 HP bow and stern thrusters (proportionally), the hydraulic anchor windlass, the power wash down system for the anchor chain, and the two emergency crash pumps. The 20Kw generator also powers the ABT STAR system for stabilization at rest.

In addition, Morning Dew can be easily maneuvered with the convenient installation of four docking stations (Pilothouse, Portuguese Bridge, Flybridge and Aft Cockpit) which include Mathers electronic controls for the main engine plus, windlass controls, steering jog levers & joy sticks for the bow and stern thrusters.  There is an extensive collection of navigational electronics selected to include all the necessities for long range coastal cruising and long-distance ocean passages.  The forward overhead in the Pilothouse is black Majilite to reduce glare and the flooring is the beautiful and traditional teak and spruce.

There are Dutch doors leading out both sides of the Pilothouse to the Portuguese bridge, bow, and the aft boat deck.  The Portuguese bridge docking station is located on the starboard side forward and offers clear sight lines from bow to stern.

The boat deck has a Steelhead davit with power extension that can launch the Rigid Sport dinghy to either the starboard or port sides. The dinghy has a 30-gallon fuel tank and can comfortably seat four with included cushions. There are large storage areas in both sides of the dinghy. There is a two- person Hobie kayak with pedals and two SUPs. An auxiliary fuel tank and pump completes the space.

In this commanding and large space, there is a full complement of electronics to steer the boat. Seating options abound: two Stidd chairs, a large settee, a side settee, and a rumble seat. There is a very large storage area in the brow.
