It is a market that does not appear to be suffering the dire economic consequences of the health crisis. As reported by BFMTV, sales of megayachts and superyachts, these luxury vessels over 30 meters that can cost more than 500 million euros, grew by more than 8% in the first nine months of the year. 2021, compared to the same period of 2019, that is to say before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the specialized site Superyacht Group.

“The year 2021 is clearly outperforming any of the past twelve years,” said Fraser Yachts based in Monaco and around the world. Since January, 200 new superyachts have sailed world waters for the first time, compared to 165 for the same period of 2019.

Same story for his compatriot Azimut-Benetti, who saw their sales triple compared to 2020 to reach 1.2 billion euros in August. This increase can be explained in particular by strong demand from American customers.

Here are some examples of superyachts for the year 2021, besides the acquisition cost, the annual running cost can easily reach and exceed 10% to 15% of the acquisition cost.

While only half of the world’s major cruise ships set sail again in September due to measures imposed to stem the Covid-19 epidemic, the Cruise Lines International Association has reported, the luxury yacht sector is gaining ground as one of the few winners of the health crisis.
