Il faudrait avoir deux bateaux pour faire le test et encore. Comme la car\u00e8ne de la coque est \u00e9galement fort d\u00e9terminante selon la configuration du mode de propulsion, il est pratiquement impossible de comparer deux modes de propulsion avec le m\u00eame bateau. Il faudrait deux types de coques pens\u00e9s en fonction du syst\u00e8me Zeus et une pour les IPS.<\/p>\n<p>Les Pods Zeus demandent une coque avec des tunnels et les PODS IPS sans tunnels. Donc, soyez vigilant lorsqu\u2019un manufacturier offre diff\u00e9rents modes de propulsion avec la m\u00eame coque. Assurez-vous que la coque est adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 son mode propulsion.<\/p>\n<p>Donc vous comprenez que la comparaison a ces limites. Le bateau va en quelque sorte ob\u00e9ir rapidement \u00e0 vos ordres ni plus ni moins lorsque vous serez en mode DOCKING en faisant bouger les PODS (ou pieds) de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 provoquer la man\u0153uvre demand\u00e9e. N\u2019oubliez pas de tenir compte du facteur vent et du courant dans la zone ou vous man\u0153uvrer.<\/p>\n<p>La technologie des PODS permet \u00e9galement le positionnement dynamique. C\u2019est-\u00e0-dire qu\u2019il est possible de maintenir le bateau dans une position stationnaire en pesant sur un simple bouton. En effet cette option porte le nom de Skyhook pour Zeus (by Merc.) et de Dynamic Positionning System pour Volvo. Ce gadget est id\u00e9al pour attendre l\u2019ouverture des portes d\u2019une \u00e9cluse ou encore la lever d\u2019un pont.<\/p>\n<p>Pouss\u00e9 par l\u2019arriv\u00e9 de cette technologie des PODS, les bateaux propuls\u00e9s par des shafts ont \u00e9galement r\u00e9pondu pr\u00e9sent en mettant au point un joystick qui cette fois-ci utilise obligatoirement un thruster avant et possiblement un thruster arri\u00e8re pour aider le plaisancier dans les man\u0153uvres de stationnement.<\/p>\n<p>Par exemple, Xenta a con\u00e7u ce type de joystick et Cummins \u00e9galement ainsi que le manufacturier MTU. Ils sont tr\u00e8s performants, mais ne permette pas le positionnement dynamique (en tout temps, sans aucune interruption) sans l\u2019usage de thrusters hydraulique. En effet un thruster \u00e9lectrique ne peut pas fonctionner de mani\u00e8re continue sur une longue p\u00e9riode, une <u>protection thermique<\/u> va le rendre inop\u00e9rant tr\u00e8s rapidement en cas d\u2019usage trop prolong\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Il faut dire que Cummins a mis au point un syst\u00e8me de thruster plus performant pour pallier \u00e0 cet inconv\u00e9nient.<\/p>\n<p><a PODS n\u00e9cessite moins d\u2019espaces dans le compartiment moteur, ce qui en r\u00e9sulte que l\u2019espace d\u00e9di\u00e9 aux chambres (au pont inf\u00e9rieur) peut \u00eatre bonifi\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Les manufacturiers ont mis au point des dispositifs s\u00e9curitaires dans le cas ou vous frappez des obstacles avec vos Pods.\u00a0\u00a0 Bien s\u00fbr, les r\u00e9parations seront plus couteuses qu\u2019avec des h\u00e9lices (mont\u00e9 sur des shafts).<\/p>\n<p>Bien que votre bateau sera \u00e9quip\u00e9 d\u2019un joystick, je vous <u>conseille fortement<\/u> d\u2019apprendre \u00e0 stationner votre bateau sans celui-ci afin de vous familiariser au cas ou le syst\u00e8me de Joystick serait en panne.\u00a0\u00a0 Trop de plaisanciers se retrouvent dans des situations de quasi panique sans leur joystick, portant, ce n\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s compliqu\u00e9 avec un peu de pratique.<\/p>\n<p>Remarquer que plusieurs manufacturiers installent quand m\u00eame \u00e0 dire, mais nous nous limitons \u00e0 ce bref article. \u00a0Les PODS n\u2019ont pas mis au rencart les bateaux \u00e0 shafts, loin de l\u00e0, mais ils ont des avantages certains. N\u2019oubliez pas non plus les bateaux propuls\u00e9s par des jets et des h\u00e9lices de surfaces. Chacun poss\u00e9dant des caract\u00e9ristiques vraiment tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressantes.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019ailleurs d\u2019ici quelques mois, le manufacturier Pershing qui produit des yachts propuls\u00e9s par des h\u00e9lices de surfaces va installer sur ces yachts un syst\u00e8me r\u00e9volutionnaire qui va faire en sorte que les surfaces drives pourront d\u00e9sormais bouger ind\u00e9pendamment un de l\u2019autre comme les PODS.<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence dans cet article aux PODS connus de l\u2019ensemble des plaisanciers. C\u2019est-\u00e0-dire IPS et ZEUS. Mais les PODS existent depuis plus longtemps, ce type de propulsion est utilis\u00e9 par d\u2019autres manufacturiers pour des utilisations sur des yachts commerciaux ou encore des m\u00e9gayachts, les usages sont multiples. Il existe m\u00eame des PODS int\u00e9grant le moteur qui est donc immerg\u00e9 sous l\u2019eau \u00e0 propulsion \u00e9lectrique.<\/p>\n<p>Les marques de bateaux tr\u00e8s populaires comme par exemple Searay, Cruisers Yachts, Regal, Monterey, Prestige, Chaparral, Jeanneau, Beneteau, FourWinns, Marquis, Carver utilisent cette technologie depuis d\u00e9j\u00e0 plusieurs ann\u00e9es. Cette technologie est la pour durer, alors si vous acheter un bateau d\u2019occasion de 2009 par exemple, entre 28 et 38 pieds (express), lors de la revente dans 5 ans, vous aurez peut-\u00eatre de la difficult\u00e9 \u00e0 revendre ce bateau consid\u00e9rant que presque tous les bateaux depuis 2010 poss\u00e8dent ce mode de propulsion. Revendre un bateau en 2020 (dans 3 ans) pour cette cat\u00e9gorie de bateau, sans joystick, va me sembler plut\u00f4t difficile. Pensez-y.<\/p>\n<p>En r\u00e9sum\u00e9, voici les avantages des PODS\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00e9conomie de carburant<\/li>\n<li>am\u00e9liore l\u2019agilit\u00e9<\/li>\n<li>moins de bruit<\/li>\n<li>moins de vibration<\/li>\n<li>moins d\u2019\u00e9manations (odeurs de di\u00e9sel)<\/li>\n<li>positionnement dynamique<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Les grands manufacturiers de yachts ont mis au point des solutions pour obtenir des avantages comparables avec la technologie des shafts comme par la mise au point de syst\u00e8mes d\u2019<strong>exhaust<\/strong> sous l\u2019eau et des solutions de joystick tr\u00e8s performant.<\/p>\n<p>Il faut se rappeler cependant que les shafts sont une technologie simple et tr\u00e8s efficace.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e8s que le bateau atteint un certain poids, une certaine grandeur (fly en particulier), tr\u00e8s peu de manufacturiers installent des PODS, ils pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent des shafts avec des thrusters performants.<\/p>\n<p>Si vous accrocher le fond, le cout des r\u00e9parations sera plus important pour des PODS que pour des shafts, le d\u00e9lai de r\u00e9paration risque \u00e9galement d\u2019\u00eatre plus long.<\/p>\n<p>Chaque mode de propulsion poss\u00e8de ses avantages et inconv\u00e9nients, il faut choisir en fonction du type de bateau.
